Without a doubt one of the most innovative exciting bands of recent years, the band have a well deserved global reputation for a fantastic show. Formed in Edinburgh, Shooglenifty began life with a residency at the La Belle Angele pub and quickly drew a strong fanbase for their energised, contemporary roots material

UK festival appearances included sets at Bracknell, Sidmouth and WOMAD, as well as headling the Cambridge Folk Festival. These were universally well-received, despite the fact that the band's influences are much wider than the average Celtic revivalists, including mentions for Captain Beefheart, the Fall and modern ambient/techno artists (they have also released club remixes of some of their material). Their sound? "hypnofolkadelia" and "acid croft". amongst others.
With several record breaking albums between them over the last few years and now within the space of two years two excellent albums the live album Radical Mestizo soon to be followed up with new studio based album featuring amongst other amazing sounds the wonderful Tanya Tagaq (throat singer)
