Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong are a five-piece from London, split between Brick Lane in the East End and New Cross dahn sarf. With names like theirs you might be forgiven for taking the Jing Jang Jong as a novelty. But listen to our London Calling track, Lonely Buoy, or any of the group's demo tracks and you'll be wondering why they don't already have a hit album under their belts. Together for only a year, tongue-twisters Joe Lean, Tom D, Dom O'Dare, Panda and Bummer Jong have the kind of polished indie that will leave even the coolest of London's club-goers a mite hot under the collar, not to mention all that "sweat on sweat on lips on lips on sweat". Taking their influences from a cocktail of Kylie pop and 60's garage punk, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong cross catchy melodies with a songwriting ability that will catch you out, just when you think you can relax. www.bbc.co.uk |
