In the past few years Do They Collide have gone from basic bedroom songwriting to one of the most exciting and interesting live bands around today. Bringing together reverb-soaked ambient guitars, intricate movie score-esque strings and beautiful vocal melodies without losing their distinctive "epic pop" sound.
Named after a Death Cab For Cutie lyric Do They Collide originally started out as HERESY back in 2001 with Lewis Jones (lead vocals), a veteran of the Essex music scene, creating catchy, powerful and dark sounds as a three piece. The band split in 2006 but it wasn't until the summer of 2009 whilst working in a local music store that he met Andy Pullen (keyboards) and Billy Reeve (electric guitar). After jamming repeatedly in an converted barn in the middle of nowhere with Andy's brother Mark (drums) they realised they had created a sound unique to themselves, although one thing was missing. Months went by without finding the crucial fifth member but it wasn't until a forced gig that an old work colleague Stuart Dew (bass) was called upon to session.
That rehearsal everything clicked together and Do They Collide were finally complete. After a string of local gigs word quickly spread of Do They Collide's impressive arsenal of hugely epic and powerful songs balanced with warmth from their personally tailored live shows. Since then they have supported bands all over London and headlined a few of those venues to sell out crowds along the way.
After impressing the music industry by winning the Undiscovered live music finals at the Colchester Arts Centre, fighting off over 100 other contestants and recently signing to Seven Summers records the future looks very bright for Do They Collide with a recording session at AIR studios, Itunes releases, video shoot, various radio interviews and live shows lined up for 2012.
