‘The Producers’ is a music connoiseurs’ collection of some of the finest back room geniuses in the country. After many collective years of providing the creative steam behind some of the worlds greatest records they have decided to get back to their roots and form a band. Bringing an assortment of their favourite songs to live audiences with the focus being on masterful instrumentation and the quest for perfect sound, The Producers are proud to present ‘Songlist Number 1’.
‘The Producers’ are:
Trevor Horn needs little introduction, forming the Buggles in 1977 and releasing "Video Killed the Radio Star" in 1979 which went to No 1 in the UK charts.
Horn's first production success came with the pop band Dollar in 1981. He then went on to produce The Lexicon of Love (1982) by ABC, which reached no 1 in the UK album charts.
He achieved his greatest commercial success in 1984, firstly with Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and secondly with the charity group Band Aid and their enormous hit "Do They Know It's Christmas". In the UK, Frankie Goes to Hollywood was the best-selling band of 1984. Other artists he has produced include Yes, Grace Jones, Seal, Propaganda, Tina Turner, Lisa Stansfield, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney, Pet Shop Boys, Mike Oldfield, Marc Almond, Charlotte Church, t.A.T.u, LeAnn Rimes, and Belle & Sebastian. Horn received a Grammy in 1996 for Seal's second album as well as one for Yes’ “Cinema”.
On November 11th, 2004, a Prince's Trust charity concert celebrating Horn's 25 years as a record producer took place at Wembley Arena featuring many of the artists with whom he has worked.
Stephen Lipson is one of the UK’s leading record producers and songwriters. Engineering from the age of 23, Stephen became Trevor Horn’s engineer at Sarm Studios in 1984. He has been involved in the making of some of pop music’s landmark records: from Grace Jones’ “Slave To The Rhythm” through to all of Annie Lennox’s solo albums right up to Will Young’s career single “Leave Right Now”.
As well as the artists already mentioned Stephen’s discography reads like a who’s who of household names: The Rolling Stones, Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Simple Minds, Whitney Houston, Natalie Imbruglia, Paul McCartney - the list goes on. Although Stephen has won many awards over the years he doesn’t dwell on the past, current projects are a classical album with Grammy winner Anne Dudley and a song and songwriter search for the new series of American Idol.
Lol Creme supplied guitar and vocals for legendary British rock band 10cc. The groups first hit was "Rubber Bullets" (1973) which gave 10cc their first British #1 single. However, their biggest success came with the dreamy denial "I'm Not In Love", their second #1 in the UK and provided them with their first trans-Atlantic hit, reaching #2 in the USA. Their fourth LP, How Dare You! (1976) included some of their best material to date and furnished two more UK Top Ten hits -- "Art For Art's Sake" (#5) and "I'm Mandy, Fly Me" (#7).
Lol and 10cc band mate Goldley went on to achieve cult success as a songwriting and recording duo. They then returned to their visual arts roots and became far better-known as directors of music videos in the early 1980s. They created memorable videos for The Police, Duran Duran, Herbie Hancock and Frankie Goes To Hollywood among many others.
Chris Braide is a singer, songwriter and record producer. He stormed into the Billboard Top 100 in June 2003 with his co-write "This Is The Night" recorded by American Idol’s Clay Aiken which went to #1 and became the biggest selling single that year. One of his other songs "Anything Is Possible" was a number one single for Pop Idol winner Will Young in the UK. The song earned him and co-writing partner Cathy Dennis an Ivor Novello Award in May 2003. In 2004. Chris received two ascap awards for most performed works on american radioFor the hit song “invisible”, Also performed by Clay Aiken. Chris has written songs for a variety of artists from Kylie Minogue and Beverley Knight to Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook, as well as S Club 7's number one single "Have You Ever".
Chris is not only a songwriter; he’s also a talented vocalist. 1996 saw the release of his hit single "If I Hadn’t Got You" (re-recorded in 2004 by lisa stansfield) followed a year later by the Dave Stewart produced album, "Life in a Minor Key". 2005 saw the release of new studio album “The Upside”, with Chris writing and performing under the name of Malmo.
Ash Soan is probably the most in demand touring drummer in the country. Formerly of Del Amitri, Ash has roamed the country and rocked arenas all over the world with a clientele that lists like a who’s who of contempory pop music including Sheryl Crow, Blondie, Tom Jones, Lisa Stansfield, Tom McRea to name a few.
