"The Libertines on Viagra... respect" - NME, April 04 Vatican DC are a London based 5 piece. They are Irish Steve on vocals, Daniel Lindegren on rhythm guitar, Chris Gentry on lead guitar, Paul Jackson on bass and Tal Amiran on drums. Although these rockers are London based they are by far not born and bred. Vatican DC mix up their origins along with their music and have the far corners of the globe covered, from Israel to Essex via Ireland and Sweden. They are at the beginning of a glorious rock and roll adventure too it seems. After Radio One's Zane Lowe heard their demo in the morning he put it straight on his 'Fresh Meat' show that evening and it won hands down. XFM's John Kennedy did the same thing and it won his unsigned competition, so things are moving fast. They have just come off the back of nationwide tours with both Bloc Party and Campag Velocet. Vatican DC draw their influences from The Undertones, The Buzzcocks and The Dead Kennedys and have created a fresh new sound. The music is raw and real and comes straight from the hearts of these fine young gentlemen. They are musicians who insist that they don't want any gimmicks or stories making out they are something they're not. So if you are reading this and have your mitts on their new release "We Carnival", take it out of the sleeve and go listen to it loud and judge for yourself.

The Scrags

It's hard to create rock'n'roll history in a town who doesn't have a history. If The Scrags would have been formed in Detroit, New York, London or any other decent city they would've already been hailed as: The next wickedly big thing to save our silly souls.
The Scrags was formed in the crappy summer of 2003 and quickly became known as the most notorious rock'n'roll bastards ever to rise from the inglorious town of Gavle. After just a few gigs they'd gained a dedicated crowd of followers which included some of the most cynical concert reviewers from the two local newspapers.

Everywhere they've turned up since then - i.e. Pianos/CakeShop/TrashBar/RandR (New York), the Hulsfred Festival, Debaser (Stockholm) - the response have been just outrageously great. And that's really no surprise - because we're dealing with a band that's destined to kick the boredom out of a garage scene in decline.
Hakan Durmér, Rockparty (the Hultsfred Festival)
