Dirty Sounds were putting on the likes of The Horrors, Bloc Party, Vincent Vincent & The Villains, Art Brut & Good Shoes before they were a bubble in an NME columnist’s whiskey glass. Ending up at their current home, the Barfly for the last 18 months where you’re just as likely to see Jack White dancing to their pilfered charity shop record box as you are seeing all manor of wannabees taking over the stage for a spot of Punk Rock Karaoke. Casino Royale continues its 8-year run on both floors of the Barfly, on 1st, 3rd (& 5th) Saturdays. Behind the decks, upstairs, with a cooler, sharper version of the club's 1998-2003 floor-filling music policy of classic guitar cuts from the 70s 'til NOW, guest DJs join the musical dots between the Stones, Smiths & Strokes. Downstairs, it's a riot of only 60s garage, northern soul, psychedelia (& even rock!) from more top name DJs. This passion for independent music plus the popularity of Kill Em All earned the Filthy Dukes success in their own right and they now have a residency at Fabric as well as playing all over Europe and various remixes under their skinny belts. Kill Em All is always packed out with a party hearted art school crowd of dressy ravers and blissed out indie kids.
