The Steers will release the future indie disco smash Julia on 5th May 2008 through
KIDS. A guaranteed dancefloor filler, the track is an epic and driving slice of Britpop that recalls the charm of early Supergrass. It will be released on limited edition 7” vinyl only, and backed with new track ‘The Same Game’.‘Julia’ is the follow-up to 2007’s debut single ‘Rewind Repeat’, which garnered airplay from Zane Lowe and Colin Murray, and led to the band being nominated for Best New Band at XFM’s Pop Factory Music Awards. Before their debut single was even released, The Steers won 2007’s Diesel-U-Music Awards and supported both The Hold Steady and Underground Heroes on tour, as well as completing support slots with The Wombats, Stereophonics and The Automatic. The Steers were formed by James (vocals, guitar) and Sid (guitar, backing vocals) in the confines of Sid’s student bedroom, in which they recorded early demos and even played gigs. After working their way through 12 other band members, they were finally joined permanently by Ben (bass) and Kris (drums), united by a mutual fondness bands like The Jam, Blur, Radiohead and The Cure.
