History

The venue, originally known as the Gaumont Palace, opened its doors in 1932. In the Fifties, its name changed to Hammersmith Odeon and started playing host to many legendary acts of the day- including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Marley.

In 1992, the venue became the Labatts Apollo, hosting long running shows and musicals - including Riverdance and Dr Doolittle. 2003 saw the venue renamed the Carling Apollo Hammersmith, with major alterations enabling both standing and fully seated concerts to take place. Oasis, REM, Stereophonics, Kylie, Elton John, Peter Kay, Paul Weller have performed at the Hammersmith Apollo in recent years - to name but a few.

The theatre still retains its Art Deco features and became a Grade II listed building in 1990 upgraded to Grade 11* status in 2005.

In June 2007 the venue became part of MAMA Group Plc
