General Fiasco

The debut single is without doubt the most crucial release for any band or artist. It’s the ultimate first impression test, and it’s the song which can create instant uncontrollable hysterical hype, humble nods of appreciation, or at worst, fleeting mild interest. It’s clear that Belfast-youngsters General Fiasco know the rules, and with ‘Rebel Get By’ they have a debut single which confidently flaunts their indie rock credentials.

Combining the best bits of We Are Scientists with early Green Day, the Northern Irish four-piece’s somewhat American sounding indie rock is sure to win them fans on both sides of the pond. ‘Rebel Get By’ is a catchy, three and a half minute expression of indie youth loaded with big sounding barre chords and soaring vocals from singer Enda. Lyrically it’s as introspective as it is condemning, “It’s your fault that you’re always sailing”… “Cos on and on the hearts are pulling every loaded gun”, the latter being a middle eight phrase which then leads into a full throttle final chorus, showing off the vocal range of Enda and backing vocalist/bassist Owen.
